Adventure Rope

Location

Woodland Enterprise Centre Flimwell East Sussex

Structure

Chestnut round pole with polycarbonate cladding.

The Project

This is set to be new UK headquarters for the France-
based company, Adventure Rope Ltd. As designers and
manufactures of timber and rope equipment for recreation
and training, they believe that relocating from Wales to
East Sussex woodland would be ideal for the company's
image. It will also give them access to the areas large
timber reserves and Kent ports for exporting to Europe.
The buildings structure echoes the adventure courses
that are designed and made within it.
The round poles that dominate the roof area are
dedicated to training the people who will operate the
courses that they make. The roof will also have an area
sheltered by a fabric membrane for outdoor verbal
tutorials in the canopy. This allows the adjacent
woodland to remain clear.
Environmentally the buildings will be low-impact both in
construction and use terms. Only the trees required to
build the building will be cleared, retaining all sustainable
trees and planting new ones where ever possible. No soil
will be brought to or leave the site and all wastewater
will be treated locally.
