Downland GridshellLocation Weald & Downland Open-air Museum, Singleton, West Sussex. structure Oak gridshell with timber cladding. The Project To provide the Weald & Downland open air museum with new artefact storage and timber framing workshop. The two functions take place in a single two-storey building, the lower storey being a heavy masonry structure and the upper storey being a lightweight timber gridshell. The project was begun in 1996 and completed in 2002 following a two-year construction programme. Steve Johnson was acting as project architect while consulting with Edward Cullinan architects.
